How much time do you spend at your keyboard everyday? What percentage of time do you spend googling on the Internet for specific information?
Did you know you can use your keyboard (or pen and paper) to "google" the Spiritual Universe for answers to specific questions?
Julia Cameron, in the same book I mentioned in yesterday's post, The Right to Write, spends a whole chapter discussing the notion of ESP and how her writing and her personal life have been accurately guided by this.
"It is my belief that all of us are naturally intuitive and that writing opens an inner spiritual doorway that gives us access to information both personally and professionally that serves us well."
My experience bears this out. I began doing "automatic writing" about 7 years ago. The process is the same - posing a question, listening, and tapping out the response. I also did some training with the Akashic Records, a metaphysical "library" of sorts that stores information about our soul from the past, present, and future. Again, it was a process that taught me to connect to this source for answers to specific questions.
Having said all that, the process of asking such questions doesn't feel natural to me, even though I believe in it. My mind puts up quite a bit of resistance. Here's a recent example:
While at a personal development seminar in January, we were taken through a brief meditation (designed to move us from left brain to right (intuitive) brain. At the end of the meditation, a question was posed and we were instructed to write out the answer without censoring ourselves. A clear answer came through for me to write down, but immediately my logical mind screamed at me, DON'T WRITE THAT! Before I could go any further, I had to tell my mind it was okay, I was just writing the answer down for the exercise, and we could discard it later.
As it came to pass, I saved the answer, and didn't discard it. The answer was so right on for me, and resonated so deeply, that it became the cornerstone for the rest of the work I did in the seminar.
Don't take my word for it. Experiment with guided writing yourself. Keep this mantra in mind that Cameron talks about in her book: Ask. Believe. Receive. You can be skeptical, but must decide to be open to the process.
To get started, go to your computer and open a special file you can save and go back to later. Or grab a notebook to record your questions and answers. Jot down the question. Breathe and be still. Then write down whatever comes through. Time will tell whether or not it proves to be accurate. By the way, I've saved computer files on my automatic writing dating back to 1999, and notebooks too. I'm now more amazed to go back and read how on track they were.
"It is my belief that writing is a spiritual practice and that the world of spirit is far larger, and more variable, than the physical world - and every bit as real." - Julia Cameron.
